The Discontented was primarily inspired by Virginia Nicholson's study of those who rebelled against Victorian lifestyles and values in early 20th-century London, Among the Bohemians: Experiments in Living (c. 2004). Real-life experiences were woven into the lyrics as it evolved, but much of the imagery protrayed derives from the semi-infamous characters depicted by Ms. Nicholson. This music was put together a bit differently than in the past; lyrics, melody and the rest of the songs were written simultaneously. The music is much more organic from this iterative process...
Many thanks to Larry (acoustic guitar on tracks 1, 2 &5) and Joyce (vocals on tracks 1, 2, 5, 6 & 7) for some extra special additions; almost the Dayglo Anglos!
Also many thanks to Steve Glaze of Tone Freq Studio (San Jose) who mastered all the tracks. As some of you know, he and his studio have been behind the magic of some of the best Fine Vermin productions, and he did a great job with this album. The MP3s below sound wonderful, but the hi-fi CD sounds... heavenly! So let me know if you'd like a copy. Anxious for people to hear this one. Lyrics also provided.
