Inspiration for the wild iris came from two disparate sources: photos that Joyce took on a lucky visit to San Francisco's Strybing Arboretum on April 8, 2004, and work in early 2004 with the improvisational group IdleMotion. (I was also working simultaneously on orchestral and progressive rock projects!) I wanted to create a new sort of ambient piece. The result was 8 new tracks, 6 of which have improvised lyrics/poems, complex polyrhythms, odd meters, and lots of layers and leads.
Although the cuts provided below are excerpts, they are still fairly long. Many apologies to those dial-up folks!
